Robert Horry isn’t one to back down from a fight, just ask the gentleman who was getting on his nerves on Saturday.

At Nike’s 3ON3 basketball tourney in Los Angeles, Robert Horry got into an altercation with someone who was repeatedly heckling the seven-time champion and his son, according to a video and report from TMZ Sports.

Horry, who is 46, 6-9 and upwards of 220 pounds, insists he was defending himself from the instigator. The other guy — who appears to be wearing some sort of sun hat — is considerably smaller than Horry. According to TMZ, Big Shot Bob was acting in self-defense.

“The guy was trash talking the whole game. He shoved me. Where I’m from, you protect yourself.”

Now, I have a few questions. First, why are you, an adult, talking trash to a bunch of kids. It’s not right. Second, why do you keep doing it? Horry stated that this isn’t the first incident. Third, why are you shoving another adult at a kid’s tournament? It doesn’t make sense. If this were back in Horry’s playing days, it’s a different story. Even NBA players now shove each other from time-to-time when tension is running high.

I want to try and be the bigger person and say Horry shouldn’t have reacted, but we don’t have all of the details. No one knows what the other guy said except for those who were there. Maybe he was out of line for what he said. At least the gentleman with the hat swung first, and spectators were able to defuse the situation.

Remember, guys: your child’s basketball game isn’t worth fighting over. Also, remember this: don’t talk smack to kids.
