The NBA is supposed to be a tall man’s game, but don’t tell Isaiah Thomas and Tyler Ulis that.

Thomas and Ulis are two of the six players in the league you measure less than six-foot. NBA.com lists Thomas (5-9) an inch shorter than his rookie counterpart (5-10), and things got very interesting in Phoenix between these guys.

Amazingly enough, they met at halfcourt for a jump ball. It wasn’t to start the game, and that would’ve been infinitely better, but, nevertheless, it was still a joy to watch.

Thomas won the jump ball by outleaping Ulis, and both guards are dueling each other as the game begins to wind down. At the end of the third period, Thomas has 21 points while Ulis isn’t far behind with 17, tying Eric Bledsoe for the team lead.

No matter what happens going forward, this is the best moment from the game. Two of the league’s shortest players having a laugh with each other before the official (who probably has never tossed the ball that low) floats up an attempt to see who gains possession.

I don’t want to be a short basketball player homer, but this could be one of the best scenes from the entire season. Come on, you know it’s funny. The irony is just too much.
