76ers rookie phenom, Ben Simmons, says he’s grown two inches since last year’s draft.

Being an other-worldly passer who inhales rebounds and bullies defenses is a special gift. Having that wrapped in a 6-10 package is even better, but the basketball Gods didn’t that was enough for Philadelphia 76ers rookie Ben Simmons.

The Austrailian hasn’t suited up at all this year after going first overall in the 2016 Draft. He may have taken the year off, but his body hasn’t. According to World B. Free, an ambassador for the team, Simmons has grown about two inches during this season:

“It seems like Ben Simmons grew about another two inches since he’s been here. I told him that the other day, I said, Ben, you look like you’ve grown another two inches since you’ve been here.”

Jon Johnson, a reporter covering the Sixers, confirmed Free’s statements.

Simmons measured 6-10 with his shoes on at the Draft Combine and an additional two inches would make him a legit seven-footer; once he takes his shoes off, however, he drops down to 6-11. What a shame.

If this is true, we might be witnesses to the most athletic seven-footer ever and he can definitely take the crown as the best passer at that height. During combine testing, Simmons max vertical was recorded at 41.5 inches and his no-step vertical was 37.

Of course, this report is all word of mouth. Hopefully, the Sixers take a measurement before the start of next season — do it for the people culture, Philadelphia.
