At an event for 2K Sports’ NBA 2K16, Kobe Bryant was approached by Alysha Tsuji from For the Win, and one of the questions she asked him was about Kevin Durant and the impending chaos surrounding his free agency.

Bryant’s been around the block a few times after spending 20 seasons as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers, and there were times where he’d have to weigh all his possible options entering the free agent pool.

He proceeded to offer some advice for the 27-year-old superstar:

“Yeah, I mean, you know, you’ve just got to look at it holistically. What does he want out of his career, what opportunities present themselves, even i — when i was a free agent — i did my due diligence, i looked at every possible opportunity and i left no stone unturned, so you have to vet those things. I was just very fortunate things worked out for me in Los angeles, but he needs to look at every opportunity and make the right decision for himself — keeping in mind his fan base in Oklahoma, as well.”

Kevin Durant’s coming off his seventh straight All-Star season where he averaged 27.4, a career-high 8.2 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game. Oklahoma City finished the regular season at 55-27 and was just one win away from advancing to the NBA Finals before they collapsed against Golden State.

The Black Mamba was also asked about who he’s picking between the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers and gave a typical Kobe answer. “I don’t really do predictions,” he said to Tsuji. “I’m more curious to see how tactical, how they solve each other’s problems. They each pose a threat to the other in different ways. I’m curious…to see what the tactics are. After I see game 1, Game 2, probably after the first half of Game 1, I could pretty much make an educated guess.”
